How to enable hidden files (Shortcut virus)?

     Many one of the people affected by this type of virus like college students, officers and etc... If the short cut virus is affected to your computer, it will do the following

1) Disable your main folders (Not files)

2) It will create a shortcut file such as the main folder, but the shortcut is the virus. If any one was open the

    shortcut file the virus will affected to your computer and hidden all of your folders (mostly mass storage

    device folders)

3) When you insert new pendrive or other storage device the virus will create to there and start to spread to

    other computer.

How to enable the hidden folder?

   The hidden folder you can't see normally, because the virus will set the "system and hidden" attribute. So If you enable the "show hidden files and folder" from Folder option, you can see this file. So you can enable the file using the following methods.

1) Open My computer

2) Click "Tools-->Folder Options

 3) Select View tab

4) Select :"Select Hidden files and folders" and disable "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

5) Now you can view your hidden folder

     

      If you want to enable the hidden folder permanently, you should follow the procedure.

Enable the hidden folder permanently:-

      1) Open Run (Win Key + R) 

   

 2) Type "cmd" and hit enter button, you will see a command prompt window

 3) Move the path from c:\document and settings\Merbin Joe[your user name] > to your pendrive or storage 

     device drive letter using the following commands

 4) If your pendrive letter is "F" type, [each line you should press enter key]

     F:

     attrib -a -r -h -s "your hidden folder name"

5) That folder will unhide perminantly.

     

   Any virus can't add to your computer without your help, for example If you open the virus, only it can access your computer. When you have to open your pendrive the virus will execute automatically the help of autorun.inf file.
